make24Math puzzle: make 24 using every number
Combine all the numbers into a single one — and it has to be 24.
make24 is a math puzzle with more than the four basic operations: besides +, −, × and ÷ you get √, x², n!, log₂ and |x|. Every puzzle can be solved – it is built backwards from 24. Play this math game online on your own against the computer, or in a math duel against others.
Example: Make 24 with 4 numbers on level 2: 2, 4, 8 and 17. With +, −, × and ÷ alone, you won’t get to 24 here. Solution: 2 × 4 = 8, 17 − 8 = 9, √9 = 3, 8 × 3 = 24 – in short: 8 × √(17 − 2 × 4) = 24.
Levels: Level 1 has three numbers, level 2 four, level 3 five, level 4 six, and levels 5 through 7 seven each. Each number is at least 0 and at most the level’s upper limit: 14, 28, 42, 56, 70, 84 and 100.
make24 trains you to plan a calculation in your head: you break 24 down, say into 3 × 8 or 4 × 6, and make the other numbers fit.
How to play
Everyone plays on their own board – all get the same puzzle.
Drag a number onto a number: they add up.
3onto5→8Put an operator on a number, then drag the second number onto it – the number with the operator comes first.
8−and3→8 − 3 =5√, x², n! … take effect at once.
√onto9→3The first to have only 24 left wins.
234→2 × 3 × 4 =24
The higher the level, the more and the bigger the numbers – seven at most.
